No Justice No Peace

no-justice-no-peaceNo justice, No peace
that child was executed for wearing a hoodie [Trayvon Martin]
No justice, No peace
that child was executed by a racist vigilante [George Zimmerman]
No justice, No peace
that brother was executed the day he was to be married [Sean Bell]
No justice, No peace
that father was executed for selling cigarettes on the streets [Eric Garner]

No justice ,No peace, No justice, No peace, No Justice, No peace

You’ve been saying that since 1960;
sermon after sermon when it relates to police brutality,
this reverend always calls for peace.
Each time a Black or Latino man, woman, or child is deceased,
these so-called civil rights leaders march for justice and peace.
We can kill one another daily,
yet resistance against the Fraternal Order of Pigs and institutionalized racism
brings out the preacher screaming peace.
Some of these organizations been around close to a century–
I’m talking to you Mr. NAACP
You’re close behind Mr. Urban League
yet we still have no justice and no damn peace.

I wonder if Dr. King, after forty years and a thousand tears, would still plead for peace,
or throw up his hands and demand the people Raise UP by any means they can.
Perhaps he’d step aside with grace and allow the youth to assume their rightful place;
the solution is their own, as is today

What is justice?
Is it executed for being a thug,
executed for being a Blood,
executed for being a Crip,
or being young, black, and considered dangerous
or is justice paying for my life with a million dollar price?
How much for Renisha McBride,
How much for Dakota Bright,
Fuck it, how much for every Black life?

You want to know why we don’t embrace peace?
History proves it hasn’t worked, not even to end slavery,
and you haven’t fooled me.
I know who you are Mr. Black Bourgeoisie.
You’ve sold your soul,
for that Cadillac and condo.
You’ve sold your soul,
to maintain the status quo.

It’s time to bury the dream and embrace the legacy of Huey P.
Embrace today’s reality
Die on your knees or fight on your feet
Die free
Die for your respect and humanity.
In that at least,
you’ll find justice and peace.

-In struggle,
OG Panther
