A Look Back (Bahagian 2 daripada 2)

Knocked. The Free World no longer mines to roam. Sebaliknya, I must now become accustomed to glaring out of prison bars wishing the hands of time could be turned in the opposite direction. Apa yang saya ada sekarang adalah tanda. Ironinya, tiada masa yang terbuang. Segera, I was welcomed by the harsh realities and inhumane dwellings known to criminals and crooks as a home away from home.

Apa yang berbohong di hadapan adalah tertentu untuk menjadi salah satu neraka perjalanan. Satu penginapan panjang seolah-olah tidak dapat dielakkan. Walau bagaimanapun, dalam sekelip mata, I knew I would or could never grow relaxed to living on on pissy matresses, mildewed linens, slop, and hot meals served cold. If it helps, picture the projects- A Little Cityinfested with standards short of satisfactory; a plot reduced to shambles, patrolled by Correction Officers who hear and see no evil. Selain itu, there was the assortment of characters with no identity of their own. Boys posed as men, Weak ones had assumed strength. A circus yet all so dangerous. A flick of the wrist rips jugulars and misplaced pushes snatch at lives. This is where I had come. This was only the beginning. Sudah tentu, it got worse.

Already much of me had become a fading memory. Overnight, phone numbers were changed and “friends” disappeared. No one to call on. What was to be expected?

In the land much of one’s time went to everything other than securing friendships. Silent whispers ofwho carescould be heard as I sat in my cell at night and put my ear to the streets. Jadi, in my dark hour I found myself alone. Girl gone. Homies hollering from a distance. I could hear the screams of my son and daughter as their eyes scoured their surroundings in search of their father who wasn’t there. The mother of my seed left to fend for self. The gavel did what it was meant to do. Mengimbas kembali some 9-years ago; when we fell, we fell hard. I recommend that you stay gorunded.
