Accepting Responsibility

prisoners-accepting-responsibility

What you see is not always what you get.

In the process of finally accepting responsibility for my wrongdoings I realized that what you see is not what you get. Few people are willing to concede to their share of wrongdoing. These individuals are blind to their own faults. They see no room to improve. They want to dominate others. They crave admiration and attention. They are vindictive, distrustful, 적의, manipulative, and self-serving. They don’t stop to consider consequences. They are willing to hurt others to get what they want. And often they do not notice the emotional upheaval they create in others’ lives. Or maybe they just don’t care. Few show remorse when asked to acknowledge the injury they have caused. Their justifications are used in attempt to convince the injured that the actions taken were morally acceptable. These excuses are used to convince people that behavior may not have been right, but should be viewed as being blameless. These individuals are more comfortable with old problems than they are with new solutions and accepting responsibility. They fail to understand that if there is to be reconciliation, first there must be truth. 하지만, sadly, after most people find the truth, they realize that it is much easier to not accept responsibility for their actions. In order for these individuals to feel as if they have really triumphed, someone must lose. This is why when you you attempt to point out this troubling pattern to them you are instantly vilified. At first they will only dislike what you say. But then the more correct you begin to sound, the more they will dislike you and begin to feel scorned by the wisdom of your words.

This forced me to put my problems in perspective. When something unjust happens to you, you can either let it define you, let it defeat you, or let it strengthen you. The choice is yours. Once I chose strength, I instantly came to the realization that I will no longer see people for who and what they claim to be but for who they really are. I refused to be repeatedly hoodwinked by the spite and profusely explain to those who still do not even care to understand and accept responsibility.

Those of you who repeatedly refuse to accept responsibility for your own wrongdoing need to take a deep look at yourself. 아니, take an even deeper look at yourself. What do you see?

Sometimes the only way you can take a really good look at yourself is through someone else’s eyes.
