The Legacy of Malcolm X

Malcolm-X

I recently ordered and have been reading Malcolm X: The FBI File. It contains everything the feds compiled on him that was recently declassified. It’s a GOOD read. For more good reads check out the #RaiseUP Book Club: a reading list curated by prisoners. The following quote is from a speech Malcolm X was to give the day he was assassinated.

”After the Emancipation Proclamation when the system of slavery changed from chattel slavery to wage slavery, it was realized that the Afro-American constituted the largest homogeneous ethnic group with a common origin and common group experience in the United States and, if allowed to exercise economic or political freedom, would in a short period of time own this country. Therefore racists in this government developed techniques that would keep Afro-American people economically dependent upon the slave masters-economically slaves-twentieth-century slaves.”

I was inspired by this quote. After reading I felt the need to pay homage as well as enlighten. 51 years ago on February 21, 1965, El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz commonly known as, Malcolm X was assassinated. For far too long his legacy has been purposely ostracized for the legacy of others whose primary objective was and still is to appease the oppressors by assuring that we will NEVER truly pose a threat. We just turn our cheeks and be submissive!

Why is it that ninety-five-percent of the problems that Afro-Americans faced back then, Afro-Americans STILL face today?!

It seems like everyday I’m a spectator an a fuckin’ circus. PURE IGNORANCE. These dudes have no fuckin’ clue and don’t care that they don’t have a clue!!! 🙁 SMFH. THEY LOVE PRISON!!! SMFH
