R.I.P. Mamá

R.I.P. Yvonne Austin. My beloved mother has left me. Hearing those dreadful words is the reality of a prisoner. I hurt so much right now. My heart has never been this heavy. It is the most vulnerable time of my whole life. I was in lockup preparing for a big visit with my mom and the chance to look her in the face and tell her how much I love her and that I forgive her for falling victim to the struggle of drug addiction. I was a dumb lil bastard who couldn’t understand things when they were taking place. I was mean to my mother . . . (shedding tearz)

All of you out there who read these posts and the lil homies who they are really meant for, take heed. No rap song can account for these moments and the feelings that come with the everyday struggle behind prison walls. When everybody starts dying on you, you will take a seat and breathe. I wasn’t even a mama’s boy. We lived our own lives, but I was her first born son. We struggled together. Before the drugs, prostitution and my criminal gangster lifestyle, decisions were made just mother and son, in it together. She lost to the addiction, and I was hard on her for it. I wish I had stayed with her in Prince Street Projects. I took my baby brother and we went to High Street in Newark, Nueva Jersey, to live with my grandmother. I took away her reason to fight, to recover. It’s a very sad time for me right now . . . My mother died alone of a heart attack in a hospital with no one there to hold her hand . . . R.I.P. Yvonne Austin from Prince Street Projects in Newark — from your beloved son Omar!

To my so-called friends who read these posts: Escuchar, all I want to know is will you guys come together to help pay for my mother’s services? It will cost $1,000 total, maybe a little less. Where y’all at? I haven’t depended on you guys for 16 años, now your buddy, amigo, homie, is publicly asking are you still down??? Si es así, contact Trenton [Nueva Jersey] State Prison and ask for Social Services.

Omar, no matter how old we are, we are all little kid when our mother goes away. Only time helps to soothe our broken heart.I wish you to find peace, and courage to go throught this ordeal. I know that no words can ease what you feel but my thoughts are with you tonight.

Omar, I am sorry that you were not able to be there with your mom when she passed. Reading your post brought me to tears. I swear I try to not take my mother’s presence for granted. I know that we are all here for a limited amount of time, but you still can’t prepare for the time when the Good Lord calls upon our mom. Thank you for sharing your painful story. Your one story alone should be enough to deter our youth, everyone, to think twice before they make a bad decision and find themselves in a position where their mother can’t help them. Stay strong sir & take it one day at a time. This too shall pass. R. Yo. P Ms. Yvonne Austin.
